MKC taekwondo students earn yellow belts
June 16, 2016
. . . and then there were five. Last winter, Odalis Romero, a 2nd degree black belt, began offering taekwondo lessons three times per week at the MKC, and fifteen middle school students enthusiastically signed up. The demands and commitment proved too much for some, however, and over time, many dropped out. But five dedicated students pledged to finish what they started. On June 13th , they underwent a rigorous testing of their skills and knowledge in front of their families, their teacher, and the master evaluator, and on June 15th , they were awarded a double promotion to yellow belts, signifying proficiency in basic moves, sparring, and forms. These hardworking young men have embraced the Five Tenets of Tae Kwondo, courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit. They are the pride of their families, their teacher, and the MKC.
